He was a renowned bronze sculptor known for his proficiency in the lost wax casting technique. Throughout his career, he created a portfolio of sculptures that decorated various international locations, displaying deep cultural insights and reflecting the impact of his residencies in different cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                John Vassar House pursued his education at Harvard University<\/a>, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1949 and earning a Master of Fine Arts from the Cranbrook Art Academy<\/a> in 1952.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2. Career<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

                John Vassar House\u2019s career spanned several decades and had various styles and mediums, showcasing his versatility and artistic evolution in bronze forms. John Vassar House worked primarily in Rome, Italy (since 1957) where he had his own studio. He built the sculpture waxes to be cast in Italy to then ship, mainly to the US. His sculptures ranged from joined figurative to organic and abstract bronze works. Notably, John Vassar House specialized in outdoor and indoor sculpture projects. He designed some large architectural sculpture projects, although these remained unrealized despite significant models being created, such as the Peace Tower for the 500th<\/sup> anniversary of Columbus’s anchorage in the Bahamas and the West Coast Tower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                His extensive body of work included commemorative bronzes, large bronze and steel commissions, university and museum collections, church commissions, and other acquisitions distributed across different countries, including the United States and Italy. John Vassar House sculptures were displayed in numerous prestigious institutions and private collections worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Over his career, John Vassar House taught at Ridley College of St. Catherine\u2019s Ontario<\/a> from 1949-\u201851; Cranbrook Boys school in Bloomfield Hills<\/a> from 1952-\u201857, Michigan; Overseas School of Rome<\/a> from 1957-\u201859; University of Minnesota, Minneapolis<\/a> from1965-\u201867;  Intercontinental Club of Rome<\/a> from 1968-\u201875 and University of Texas, Dallas<\/a> from 1981-\u201882.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                John Vassar House passed away on March 29, 1982, in Dallas, Texas, after battling cancer. Despite his illness, he remained dedicated to his artistic endeavors until the end, leaving a legacy of creativity, dedication, and craftsmanship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                John Vassar House was survived by his wife, Amparo Lliso Marco, Spanish concert pianist and by his son and daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
