This bronze casting by John Vassar House (JVH) is one of the few left in natural bronze. No plating nor patina has been applied to it, besides, the foundry chiseling is incomplete because the casting pins still show. JVH must have simply set this sculpture on hold because of the number of projects planned for the following year. “Unfinished Passage I”, in bronze, arrives a year after the Santa Chiara Tabernacle in “travertino romano stone”. 

Although the differences between the two pieces is distinctive for their materials, they are both using the double passage concept. In the stone Tabernacle there are two tunnels, one of which has two doors. 

In the bronze “Unfinished Passage I” the existing passage includes a second, double refraction movement in the passage, noticeable from above.

The ”Unfinished Passage I” entrances flair symmetrically with an upper tip and a lower asymmetrical cut that adds lift and direction to the sunken curved wing.
